Neuromuscular Massage

Neuromuscular Massage is focused on relieving and managing chronic and acute pain. According to the National Institute for health, more than one-third of all Americans will suffer from chronic pain at some point in their lives. Neuromuscular therapy is a specialized form of deep tissue massage in which digital pressure and friction are used to release areas of strain in the muscle. These areas of strain are called trigger points and are the cause of muscle pain symptoms. Trigger points are areas in the muscle where blood and nutrients are lacking, therefore the muscle spindle is unable to relax. As a result this will cause pain, fatigue and weakness in the muscle. It will often feel like you have knots in the muscle, making it hard to perform daily activities.

Neuromuscular Massage is used to treat many different soft tissue problems. The following list is a small example of issues that may be helped by neuromuscular therapy:

Lower back pain, Upper back pain, Neck pain, Sciatica symptoms, Hip pain, Carpal Tunnel symptoms, Headaches, Plantar Fasciitis, Calf cramps, Tendonitis, Knee pain, Iliotibial band friction syndrome, and TMJ disorders.

Massage Cupping

Massage Cupping is an ancient technique which has found its way into the contemporary world of health care. Massage Cupping is a modern form of vacuum therapy. A cup is positioned at the area to be treated, a vacuum is created within the cup to draw the skin and underlying tissue into the cup. By creating suction and vacuum pressure it is used to soften tight muscles, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bringing hydration and blood flow to body tissues and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways. This pulling action, on the skin, engages the parasympathetic nervous system, thus allowing a deep relaxation to move through the entire body. Patients are usually surprised at how relaxed they feel hours, even days afterward.

This therapy, along with the movements performed by the massage therapist, will produce incredible results. Massage cupping is the perfect complement to any deep tissue massage or chiropractic treatment.
